Austin 1/2 Marathon
Michael amazes me all of the time. So a little over a month ago, he had signed up for the Austin half marathon thinking that by signing up he would have something to work toward and participate in. Well he has been training for his upcoming ride in April (the MS150) for sometime now and is in pretty good shape for riding but running is an entirely different physical experience and the most that he had run prior to today's marathon was 7-8miles on a treadmill. His answer to my concern was "babe, I'm Kenyan!" I love that he has such confidence and drive.
I'm the type that has to be physically ready before my mental state comes on board and so I talk myself out of a lot of things in the over-thinking process. Michael is the type that once his mind is set there is no going back. So he awoke early this morning, drove himself downtown, and competed in his first ever half marathon. He finished the 13 mile course in just about three hours. What more can I say? He's amazing and we are all proud of him.

Capital of TX Zoo
We enjoyed a day trip to the Capital of Texas Zoo. There were many different animals that were semi-accessible so the girls were able to see them in their habitats without us hoisting them up to see em. It was a lot of fun to watch the girls take in the sights and talk to the animals as well. In fact several of the animals at this zoo are former pets and rescues, so there was even a parrot that spoke back to us all. (Of course it wouldn't say "I love you" or "pretty bird" while the camera was rolling but we sure tried to get it to perform!)

Circus
We were fortunate to get tickets to go to the Ben Hur Shrine Circus which was in town this past weekend. We shared the fun adventure as a family and with auntie Kiki + cousin Kioni. It was really a lot of fun though a pretty long show (during nap time) for our little ones... We saw animals do cool tricks, acrobats doing amazing flips, and many more fun acts. The girls got their faces painted and each braved riding a circus animal (Sav on a pony & Noni on an elephant - sadly our camera died so we don't have the pics of those.) And for now the girls seem to have gotten over their nervousness around clowns. It was a fun time had by all.
