Reflections on Politics, Life, Love and Country

I love this country. I love my wife and my daughter. This is such an amazing country. It has been interesting watching the political discourse in this election cycle. I am always fascinated as I watch the candidates give speeches. In one such by Obama, I could almost relate when he said that his is an unlikely story. For someone who landed on these shores a little over a decade ago from the same place as his father years ago, and for someone who had little more than a few hundred dollars in my pocket and a great desire for a chance at that oft mentioned dream, my story too, is one that could only be true in America. I think I can honestly say that it has been, and continues to be a fulfilling life. I love this country. I love my wife and my daughter. The thought has crossed my mind that I might one day be able to say that my daughter, sharing the same heritage as Obama's, was born in the same year that he was elected to the presidency. And I, being thankful for the opportunity to live in this great country, hope to take the oath of citizenship in the same year he might take the oath of office. Even though my daughter could say she was American before I was, I know that we share America's ideals, and her spirit. I love this country. I love my wife and my daughter. My wife, she teaches me patience and how to live a full life. A joyous life. I couldn't imagine a better mate to share this time with. Because of her, we can say of our household, that hope is spoken here.

I love this country. I love my wife and my daughter. There's no greater joy than watching my daughter grow and learn new things every day. Watching her play and sing, and laugh. Watching as she learns to touch and stand and bobble. Watching her sleep, as though without a care in the world. I hope that as she grows, she will learn some valuable lessons from our time. I hope that she might find inspiration to set high goals for herself, no matter how idealistic, yet be grounded in a firmness of faith, and be blessed with abundance of God's amazing grace. I hope she learns to always choose the right.

I hope me and my girls can always make the best of the time that we've been given We love this country. We love each other.

Go Olympians

Yay for the world athletes! Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication. Thanks for performing your best and showing a spirit of comradery and sportsmanship. Thank you China for putting on an amazing opening ceremony and for being good hosts. Thanks NBC for letting us cheer on the world's athletes from our living rooms. AND thank you for a truce of peace in the world so that the games can go on without worries of unrest at home. (Okay get with the program Russia & Georgia!)

Savannah's Giggles

Savannah Jo and her daddy are so smitten with each other. Michael's been working in Dallas the last two weeks, and so this weekend we had fun discovering Savannah's laugh upon his return. He makes a popping noise and she giggles. Enjoy.

My Iphone

I would like to start out with a brief apology to all of you readers who may have tried to call me in the past few weeks and have not heard back from me. I have a valid excuse. My Iphone doesn't like to function as a phone. Let me preface this with a thank-you to my sweet husband because he was thoughtful enough to get me this fun toy last Christmas and it's been a lot of fun. AND he has been so patient when I've complained about the defective device. SO all of that being said. I have a fun toy that functions half of the time but definately has issues and will be attempting to exchange or trade it in sometime soon because I get rather annoyed when I am unable to place calls or check my voicemail. The screen freezes up. My personal favorite glitch is when it decides to not recognize my touch as I am trying to escape out of someones voicemail. I was connected to my brother-in-laws line for about five minutes a couple of weekends ago when I finished my message but the phone wouldn't let me disconnect and his voicemail box just let it keep going I guess! :) Technology is so fun and yet so frustrating when you are used to a certain convenience and it is not working. Oh well. I will let you know what happens next when I am able to go by the AT&T store sometime.
