Sitting on the potty

It's been about a year of me asking Savannah if she wants to sit on the big girl potty and her faithfully answering "No thanks." A couple of times I've just said to her it's potty time and had her actually sit down but she hasn't done anything besides unroll enormous amounts of TP. So I must admit that I have kind of just backed off and figured that we can take potty-training seriously as soon as we return from our Kenya trip. After all she isn't even 2.5 yet and I certainly don't want to force the issue! So imagine my surprise when getting ready for bedtime she asked to use the potty. I was helping Lexi brush her teeth so I quickly got to a happy pause moment (Lexi could chew happily on her toothbrush forever if I let her) and helped Savannah to sit on the toilet. At which point she did her proper thing and then announced excitedly, "Mommy I go potty!" There was much celebration and praise for the big girl. Since that evening she is wanting to 'try' and wear her big girl panties. So we are going with the flow. Considering that I have no expectations and am still not forcing the issue, I think that she is doing excellent. She likes sitting on the toilet and doing her business, so to me that is success. Today she even asked to go poop on the potty and promptly did her proper thing. Daddy wasn't so excited to have to see it before it got flushed but he quickly put a smile on his face and joined in the celebration. We're lucky to have him work from home so that he can enjoy these fun moments too. Heehee.

Yay Savannah!! Now you need to have a panty party for her. Everyone can bring cute panties for her. I hope she continues to do well and that you all can avoid any "accidents"!

What a doll! You must send an email about your Kenya grip. Sounds awesome! Love you!

That is very exciting. Sometimes you just have to wait for them to want to do it on their own. that is what Cameo had to do. Her daughter took a bit longer so be grateful it was sooner rather than later. She is such a big girl now. congratulations!

Grama D. is so very proud of her big girl. That is great that Savannah is feeling ready for this big step in life. We hope there is no turning back. It certainly will make life a little easier.
Pretty Princess panties will soon be on there way. See you soon.
