Sweet Moments in Houston

We made a quick day-trip to Houston to support some friends Ochoo & Cathy, who are soon moving back to Kenya. We planned it out right that the we left home right around nap time so the girls slept most of the drive. When we made it to the west side of Houston we stopped at a neighborhood park and let the girls play and walk around the lake a bit before heading to the farewell event. It was fun to trail behind Michael and the girls and just watch them taking in the experience. Both Savannah and Lexi recently discovered those fun dandelion flowers that you can blow the seeds to smithereens. So they were excited to find some of those, as well as ducks to chase, and exercise equipment plus a playground to explore. We really stumbled on a fun little park and it was great to stretch our legs a bit and enjoy being together.
From there we grabbed some dinner and then headed over to the Harambee. It was great to see some old friends and be there to support good people. Ochoo was there for Michael when he arrived into Houston and helped him to get grounded in the US. He's been a person who gets things done in the Kenyan community in Houston and is a true force to be reckoned with. We are sad to see him and his lovely wife Cathy go but know that we will see them both on our future visits overseas.
